Terms and Conditions of Service for the Ekalavya Jud Platform
Effective Date: October 2, 2025
Introduction
Welcome to the Ekalavya Jud movement (“the Platform”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our services, website, and materials. Our mission is to provide a voluntary platform to improve the performance of new entrants to the Bar (“Interns”) and prepare them for future roles as judicial officers or litigation lawyers.
The Platform is a collaborative effort by legal professionals acting as “Patrons” and “Mentors” who volunteer their time and expertise.
By registering for an account or using our Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. Please read them carefully.
1. Mission and Scope of the Platform
The Platform is a not-for-profit initiative designed to offer guidance, resources, and community support to new law graduates and junior advocates.
Our core expectation from all participants is sincere engagement, dedicated participation in all activities, and a relentless effort towards personal and professional skill enhancement.
2. Cost of Participation and ‘Pay It Forward’ Principle
There are NO FEES for registering on the Platform, participating in general webinars and video conferences, or accessing the learning materials provided by the Platform.
Interns must recognize the significant contribution of time, effort, and resources by our Patrons and Mentors. In return, Interns are expected to contribute positively to the community and give their best effort. This “repayment” is in the form of active participation, diligence, and supporting the movement’s objectives in such forms as a Mentor or Patron may suggest.
3. Optional Premium Services (Direct-to-Mentor)
The Platform acts as a facilitator, but certain personalized services are arranged directly between Interns and Mentors/Support Teams. The Platform is not a party to these private arrangements.
- Personalized Assessments: Tests and exercises on the Platform are primarily for self-assessment. Should an Intern wish to have their answer sheets evaluated for detailed feedback and counselling (beyond just marks), they may directly contact a Mentor. This personalized service may be subject to a fee, the terms of which are to be settled privately and independently between the Mentor and the Intern.
- One-on-One Counselling: Services such as person-to-person career guidance, personality development, or specific skill development counselling are optional. Interns may contact Mentors of their choice to arrange such sessions. The terms, including any applicable fees, are to be mutually decided between the Mentor and the Intern.
- Mentor Matching Support: If an Intern requests assistance from the technology support team to find or suggest a suitable Mentor, this service may be subject to a nominal administrative fee payable directly to the support team. This fee is for the matching service only and is entirely separate from the Ekalavya Jud Platform.
4. Mentor-Intern Relationship
- Mentor Discretion: Interns may express a preference for certain Mentors. The Platform will facilitate by forwarding the Intern’s information to the chosen Mentor. However, the decision to accept an Intern for mentorship rests entirely with the Mentor. There is no guarantee of being matched with a specific Mentor or of being accepted for mentorship.
- Termination of Mentorship: Both the Mentor and the Intern reserve the right to discontinue the mentorship arrangement at any time, without the need to assign any reason.
5. User Obligations and Identity Verification
- Accurate Information: You warrant that all particulars furnished by you during registration and throughout your use of the Platform are true, accurate, current, and complete.
- Verification: All participant information will be subject to security checks and verification. We reserve the right to verify your identity, enrolment status, and any other information provided.
- Consequences of False Information: Providing any false or misleading information is a serious breach of these Terms. It may result in the immediate termination of your account, and we may report the matter to the relevant authorities, which could lead to prosecution and/or disciplinary proceedings by the Bar Council or your University.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to misuse the Platform. Misuse includes, but is not limited to:
- Uploading or distributing any malicious content, malware, viruses, or spyware.
- Attempting to hack, crack, or otherwise compromise the security or integrity of the Platform.
- Posting any content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, offensive, or objectionable.
- Using the Platform for any commercial solicitation or for communications that are not in line with the stated objectives of the Ekalavya Jud movement.
Any violation of this policy will be taken seriously and may be reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
7. Disclaimer of Liability and No Guarantee
You expressly agree that your use of the Platform is entirely at your own risk. The services and all materials are provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis.
The Ekalavya Jud Platform, its Patrons, and Mentors make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the operation of the platform or the information, content, or materials included.
We do not guarantee any specific outcomes, including but not limited to, securing an internship, employment, success in judicial service examinations, or improvement in litigation skills.
No claim of any nature whatsoever shall lie against the Platform, its founders, Patrons, or Mentors on any count.
8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
