On completion of six months’ training on my joining judiciary, I was transferred from Wardha to Hinganghat. Within next three months I had become Principal Civil Judge (JD). Earlier, four judges were there but for last plus two years Hon Shri Dhanorkar Saheb alone was working there. It being big Taluka with number of police stations, from Dry Dist, large number of criminal cases, prohibition, gambling etc cases used to be filed. It took lot of time for remand work. Civil litigation too was too high but it didn’t get ample time for disposal except for injunction matters. Therefore, civil pendency had piled up.
Mr R D Saundakar Saheb from my 1990 batch-mate joined Hinganghat in June 1991. He was put in charge of criminal matters. Thus, I got ample time for reducing civil pendency.
First of all I took note of hundreds of Darkhasts. My residential quarter was opposite the Court Premises. Mr Dhanrel was my Darkhast clerk. He cooperated me. Mr Dhanrel agreed to come every second, fourth Saturday n Sunday to court between 9 am to 12 noon.
We both started taking up Darkhasts chronologically n juxtapose the same with respective Civil Suit Registers. To our surprise, though that Darkhast was pending as Stayed on account of first appeal, the final decree of Hon H C was already fully satisfied and its Darkhast was closed.
Nevertheless, first Darkhast arising from the decree of trial court n also second Darkhast from Dist Court decree in First Appeal were still pending as Stayed.
I took note of these facts on the Stayed Darkhasts and closed them as already satisfied in so and so Darkhast Number on next working day’s date.
Sir, believe me, in this fashion pendency of Darkhasts was reduced by many hundreds in just three months or so. It had given me great sigh of relief. It had yielded no disposal norms but it had given me great job satisfaction
